If you are staying at Family Time Cabin Blue Ridge, you aren't just visiting the mountains—you are living in the heart of the Aska Adventure Area. This 17-mile trail system is the crown jewel of North Georgia, offering everything from gentle riverside strolls to heart-pumping mountain bike descents.

To help you plan your trek, we’ve rounded up the "Must-Do" trails located just minutes from your cabin doorstep.

Top Hiking Trails for Every Skill Level

For families or those looking for a scenic morning warm-up, the Long Branch Loop is a perfect choice. This 2.3-mile loop is relatively flat and features beautiful forest canopies and small creek crossings. It offers the quintessential "walk in the woods" experience without being overly strenuous.

If you want views of Lake Blue Ridge, the Green Mountain Trail is your best bet. This 3.3-mile path offers a moderate elevation gain that will get your heart rate up, rewarded by stunning glimpses of the turquoise water through the trees. These views are especially spectacular in the winter and late fall when the foliage is thinner.

The Flat Creek Loop is a 5.8-mile trail that is a favorite for those who love the sound of water. This trail follows the creek for a good portion of the hike and features lush, fern-filled hollows that feel like a hidden rainforest. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the North Georgia mountains.

World-Class Mountain Biking at Stanley Gap

The Aska Adventure Area is famous among cyclists, and if you’ve brought your bike to Family Time Cabin, you are in for a treat. The Stanley Gap Trail is the big one—a strenuous 10-mile point-to-point trek. It features a challenging climb followed by a legendary, fast descent. It is rocky, rooted, and rugged—exactly what experienced riders look for in this region.

If you didn’t bring your own gear or want to try out a high-performance e-bike to help with those mountain climbs, we highly recommend visiting our friends at Blue Mountain Bikes. They are a local, family-owned shop located just minutes from the trails. Not only do they offer a fleet of premium rentals, but they also provide guided tours and shuttles to the best trailheads in the area. You can check out their latest gear and book a rental at www.bluemountainbikes.com.

Pro-Tips for Your Aska Adventure on the Aska Adventure Area Trails

Before you hit the trailhead, stop by the Iron Bridge Cafe located just minutes from our cabin. Grab a sandwich or some trail snacks—their breakfast is the perfect pre-hike fuel. We also recommend downloading offline maps on the AllTrails app before you leave the cabin’s high-speed Wi-Fi, as cell service can be spotty once you deep-dive into the National Forest. Keep in mind that some trailheads may require a small daily parking fee, so check the kiosk at the parking area before you head out.

 Recover at Family Time Cabin

After you’ve conquered the Stanley Gap or looped Long Branch, there is no better feeling than coming home to Family Time Cabin Blue Ridge. Drop your muddy boots on the porch and head straight for the private hot tub to soak your muscles. If you aren't done moving yet, you can head to the game room for a round of pool, or simply enjoy a well-deserved drink on one of our three expansive decks overlooking the mountains you just climbed.
